Artifact 1
2A. Creating an Environment of Respect and Rapport
1st Day of School
The artifact that I chose to demonstrate that I can create an environment of respect and rapport when I was in my first placement. This artifact fits in this standard because I am creating a positive learning environment that is meaningful for students to be able to interact with me as well as with other students. The students were told my expectations as well as the expectations set for the entire school. The students knew the expectations of the music classroom that they feel comfortable with each other and with me.
This artifacts shows my understanding that creating a classroom environment is very important for students to thrive. Creating an environment of respect and rapport allows the students as well as myself to feel comfortable in sharing and learning.
Artifact 2
2D. Managing Student Behavior
5 Agreements
The artifact I chose to demonstrate that I understand how to manage student behavior. This artifact shows the 5 agreements set forth for the school district and used in every classroom. Students were introduced to these agreements and were told that they would be held to these expectations. This allowed me to management students behavior more effectively because they were being held accountable to the exact same standard for every student.
An example of management in action would be the times when students would laugh at another for answering incorrectly or making mistakes, I would stop the behavior and explain why this is disrespectful and remind them that they were breaking the agreements of Mutual Respect and No put downs. This was an effective system of management and kept our classroom positive and fun.
Artifact 3
2E. Organizing Physical Space
Seating Chart
This artifacts show that I have learned to organize my space effectively. These artifacts is from my second placement in a middle school choir program. This artifact I feel is important because being organized with my own materials set a positive example for the students as well as keeps the learning environment on track. In addition, I included the seating charts of three of the five choirs. This also demonstrates organization by giving students a specific seat and vocal placement. By doing this, it keeps behavior management better in check as well as creating an efficient, effective classroom.
